Brass Peacock Platter with Handpainted Meenakari Art 6 in

Go back to the royal era, with these handcrafted brass bowls - where royalty meets beauty. Striking colours are fused together on metal surfaces bringing to life traditional Indian motifs. The Meenakari/ Kundan work bears an enamel layer on the surface which makes it washable, and hence viable to use.

History of this Antique Art
Introduced in Rajasthan by Raja Maan singh of Amer, this Persian craft was originally used to create designs on the back of traditional polki jewellery. However, as the craft flourished under Mughal patronage, it became a design of its own, and pervaded into showpieces and tableware.
One of the most complex crafts, the process of Meenakari remains the same as it was 500 years ago! A typical piece passes through the hands of 7 craftsmen before it’s finally ready for showcase.

The Bombay Store brings to you authentic handicraft products from all across India.
